What do dads actually want for Father’s Day?

There are two things that most dads, for some reason, just love: explaining how things work… and giving advice, even when nobody’s asked for it.
And to be honest, that’s exactly why I suddenly realized that a brewery & distillery is almost the perfect place for Father’s Day.
Because as soon as the conversation turns to how whisky is made, why one spirit tastes smoother than another, or what actually happens during the distilling process suddenly every father has an opinion.

Why a brewery & distillery actually makes sense for Father’s Day?
And within ten minutes of the tasting starting, your dad is fully engrossed in discussing flavors, equipment and the production process, as if he’s been doing it all his life. And to be honest… it’s great fun to watch.
This year, my friends and I decided to move away from the classic Father’s Day scenario of a restaurant or a family dinner at home. Instead, each of us is taking our dad to a Spirits Tasting Workshop at Tipsy Tribe Brewery & Distillery in Brussels.
And honestly… it seems much more like something they’ll actually enjoy.
When a tasting turns into a proper discussion.
The funniest thing about these experiences is how quickly people get drawn in. At first, everyone just comes to try the spirits and have a good time. And then the discussions and questions start:
“Is gin always like this?”
“Listen, how do they actually make it?”
During the workshop, guests sample three handcrafted spirits made right at Tipsy Tribe, get a little behind-the-scenes look at the distilling process and take a short tour of the distillery.
There are also tasting notes to help you better understand the flavors, aromas and textures, plus snacks (because tasting spirits on an empty stomach is, honestly, a questionable life decision).
And somehow, without even realizing it, you start learning new things. It doesn’t feel like a lecture. More like a really interesting conversation where everyone gets involved. I suppose what I like most about these sorts of things is that you actually remember something afterwards, because, let’s be honest, hardly anyone remembers exactly what they gave their dad for Father’s Day three years ago.
But a debate about spirits inside a real brewery & distillery in Brussels - that’s a memory. And the atmosphere plays its part too: the smells, the tasting glasses, a bit of controlled chaos all around, and people who are genuinely having fun.
Looking for Father’s Day ideas in Brussels?
If you’re keen to come up with something a bit more interesting than the usual gift and spend some time together, the Spirits Tasting Workshop at Tipsy Tribe Brewery & Distillery honestly feels like a brilliant Father’s Day idea.
A bit of craft spirits, new conversations, a local experience in Brussels and an hour and a half of doing something different together.
And quite literally, it sounds very dad-approved.
