Thanksgiving in Brussels
We’re only two months away from that ‘most American of holidays’ – that is the last Thursday
in November which is American Thanksgiving, or Turkey-day as we used to call it during my
childhood in California.
But Thanksgiving is not only about eating turkey. As the name implies, the theme of the
Thanksgiving holiday revolves around coming together and giving thanks. The centerpiece of Thanksgiving is a feast traced to the Puritans (known today as “Pilgrims”) who emigrated from England to the Americas on the Mayflower ship, and sat down one autumn day to celebrate a successful harvest along with a group of indigenous Native Americans who greatly supported their efforts to survive in a new land….

But what does the ‘Spirit of Thanksgiving’ have to do with an expat life in Brussels?
Well, I am a “Pilgrim” of sorts here in Brussels, having emigrated from a far-away land. In fact
Brussels is a melting pot of peoples with different cultures, languages and cuisines. And that’s all year long, not just the last Thursday in November.
Plus I think most of the dinner parties I’ve attended in this city have the same spirit of coming
together and exploring these different cultures, languages and cuisines – as well as sharing
stories and thoughts about some quite serious questions like “what are you most grateful for in your life?”, and “what do you think others should be more thankful for in their lives?”. These are the same sorts of questions we asked ourselves at our family Thanksgiving dinners back in California!
But how can you experience a traditional Thanksgiving dinner in Brussels?
For the third year in a row, a group of West-Coast American entrepreneurs in Belgium are
teaming up to bring you a real Thanksgiving feast in this country we now call home!
This year 2026, we’re hosting THREE Traditional Thanksgiving Dinners in Brussels on
November 25th – 26th - 27th. At all three events you can enjoy mouthwatering food from
CHEZWaWa restaurants, thirst-quenching craft beers from Tipsy Tribe Brewery & Distillery,
and handcrafted artisanal loose-leaf teas from Tay Tea!
My suggestion = Don’t miss your chance to REGISTER NOW before it sells out like in the past years!
