Our first International Beer Festival

Fresh off the back of Bière à Lille (BAL) this weekend, we felt like writing a little post about our experience in our very first international beer festival.

First off, the festival was amazing. One of the best we’ve ever been to and definitely one we would love to hit up again in the future.  Close to Brussels and very easy to access the location this year was what appeared to be a giant freezer in the shape of an abandoned train station… joking of course… but it was a bit cold in there.  A few drinks later everything and everyone warmed up and started loving the selection of our craft beers and the wonderful beers of France, Belgium, Ireland, England, Spain and more.

On top of this being our first Beer festival in France it was also our friend Ian Watson's very first beer festival of his WHOLE FRIGGIN’ LIFE! He killed it and much like a puppy on cocaine, he became friends with 99% of the people in the room, all the while sipping some damn fine brews from the best breweries in the room.   He killed it and is going to be a fixture of all our beer festivals from here on out! Welcome to the team Ian!

The festival went off without a hitch and even with some difficulties learning that open borders in Europe don’t really exist for the movement of controlled substances, e.g. beers we got to learn the ways of the international beer purveyor.

Big thanks to the organizers and crew of BAL (too numerous to name them all), Hub.Brussels, and Karel from Hop Culture in Lille and last but not least the team of Tipsy Tribe Brewery & Distillery for making it all happen smoothly. Looking forward to the next time!
